natural Earth pigments on garden ground

16˚ Aries

@2' x 5'

~reduced pixels as symbolic of a transformational state forward to broken, mineralized and planted ground ~

with this installation I added one color on each successive day marked with the Sun’s astronomical/astrological placement. beginning with charcoal I made with Willow Salix alba, Red, Orange & Yellow ochres and Green, Blue, Violet and White Earth pigments… the photo journaling continues now with documenting the process of Earth re-membering the pigments and with remineralizing the garden space physically and energetically… as a full spectrum color mineral concentrate it will be blended with this year’s compostings and spread with intention into the garden soil here in Tillson, NY, with the winds, the draining waters and its’ vibrational sync with our healing Universe it will align with cyclic nature’s way…

the long cast shadows of early Spring and the old and diseased main trunk of the White Pine, Pinus alba, the Iroquois "Tree of Peace", that was taken down by the electric company as a threat to wires and driveway at my daughter and son-in-law's home. I'll incorporate some its' sawdust to artwork honoring its' long life. there was not enough resin to take for binder with pigments at the cuts and signified the dried state of the tree. this photo sketch also aligned with a trip with my daughter and grandchildren to the New York State Museum where several permanently installed life size dioramas and wall displays of early native Iroquois arts, life and traditions exist. enThanks...

Spring, dark and light orbs
Earth pigments with Water and Metal pan(s)
12"d
4/9/15

applied red (Earth), green (Heart) and violet (Spirit) Earth pigments onto the surface of clockwise stirred circularly Spring rain water within two coupled Metal pans. as the 9th day of the month the metaphor of the number 9 and the container within the container can represent setting limits and establishing firm boundaries... and here with one photo image above and the other below the number 8 formed by the circles suggests an infinite space. the circle can also represent an infinity... the relationship of light and dark exists as a balanced dance in space and time...
