high Water with Low Falls
charcoal from local circle fire, stone with "briquette" circle Fire,
vegetation and Water & Earth cosmologies
Roundout Creek
High Falls NY

below High Falls and Low Falls with the recent rains the Waters have risen and stones along the Roundout Creek banks are inaccessible... I selected three stones of a circle Fire with toxic briquettes as marker stones... much of the area is high-fenced off and signed with "Danger" and "No Tresspassing" by the electric power company that owns and uses the damned area of the Roundout Creek as its' own power source... other access areas to the creek are signed off with no trespassing by local landowners...
with high Water with the rains there was a clear line of plastics and other crap marking the high water line... this place is marked as a scenic stop - seems the meaning of scenic is changing...

information signs for the area are still in place for visitors both with accessible areas
and inaccessible areas... signaling transitions toward privatized Waters...

Low Falls with High Falls
charcoal from local circle fire, stone,
vegetation and Water & Earth cosmologies
High Falls NY

with the photo the light of High Falls is upper left...
High Falls is 96' high with a 200' span and Low Falls is about a 12' drop with maybe a 40' - 50' span... markings with this 4'x4' conglomerate stone...
an re-oxegenated and enlightened being with the falls...

I was disgusted to see so much trash laying strewn about from te parking area to the Water's edge... some signs about the area say "No Littering"... I chatted with a local woman walking with her dog who spoke of the town authorities and the locals inability to cope with and to in courage encourage the "out of towners" coming in and trashing the place...appearing with this person as a they did it situation and appearing with myself and others as a full spectrum cultural, local and not local, lack of respect for our lands and animals, each other and ourselves...
"carry in, carry out" is a common sense and a natural way for us to be with our lands and animals, each other and ourselves as caring beings... much of the upper falls area is
high-fenced off and signed with "Danger" and "No Tresspassing" by the electric power company that owns and uses the damned area of the Roundout Creek as its' own power source... obviously a 96' fall could be deadly and most often we are prevented access to our Waters to recreate ourselves by private utility and personal landowners... sense of commoning is missing in our culture and we have forgotten, and are prevented from re-membering ourselves with what is around and inside ourselves as human beings...
there is no practical purpose for question, guilt/blame or sorrow about it as each is too often self perpetuating and a one way downward spiral without returns...

got my self reoxygenated with the falls...
High Falls is 96' high with a 200' span and Low Falls is about a 12' drop with maybe a 40' - 50' span... worked with this stratified 4' x 20' stone...

Susquehanna River ("Main Branch")
Nineveh NY

"Nineveh is a hamlet with about 50 homes on the banks of the Susquehanna River in New York. It is part of the Town of Colesville,  Binghamton metropolitan area in eastern Broome county. Nineveh is located on the USGS Afton quadrangle at an elevation of about 960 feet. Nineveh takes its name from ancient Nineveh, the most important city on the Tigris River in the ancient kingdom of Assyria (now Iraq).
Nineveh is located along the tracks of the Delaware and Hudson Railway and has a distinct trestle located there.
New York State Route 7 is the main road through the hamlet, with several small businesses serving the residents' basic needs located along it.
In June 2006, widespread flooding along the river basin inundated many homes along the banks of the river.
the founder of the Mormon faith Joseph Smith visited Nineveh in the early 19th century."

"Nineveh, the oldest and most-populous city of the ancient Assyrian empire, situated on the east bank of the Tigris River and encircled by the modern city of Mosul Iraq. Nineveh was located at the intersection of important north-south and east-west trade routes, and its proximity to a tributary of the Tigris, the Khawṣar River, added to the value of the fertile agricultural and pastoral lands in the district."...

arriving with the Delaware and Susquehanna Watersheds of South central upstate New York after a week or so of heavy rains I waited three days for the Waters to ebb from flash flood warnings for many of the stones to reemerge from the muddy Waters...
and it's still rainy...

~~~ this will be my last post for now with the Susquehanna River ~~~
the headwaters of the Susquehanna River with Cooperstown NY is 30 miles NW of the headwaters of the Delaware River with Jefferson NY...
they conjoin with the Atlantic Ocean about 60 - 70 miles apart with the Delaware Bay and the Chesapeake Bay
http://williamahuston.blogspot.com/p/ny-pa-watersheds-map.html
"Also called the Main Branch Susquehanna, the longer branch of the river rises at the outlet of Otsego Lake in Cooperstown, New York. From there, the north branch of the river runs west-southwest through rural farmland and dairy country, receiving the Unadilla River at Sidney. It dips south into Pennsylvania briefly to turn sharply north at Great Bend hooking back into New York. It receives the Chenango in downtown Binghamton. After meandering westwards, it turns south crossing the line again through the twin-towns of Waverly, NYSayre and their large right bank railyard, once briefly holding the largest building in the world.
A couple miles south, just across the New York state line, in Athens Township (just south of Waverly, New York) in northern Pennsylvania it receives the Chemung from the northwest. It makes a right-angle curve between Sayre and Towanda to cut through the Endless Mountains in the Allegheny Plateau of Pennsylvania. It receives the Lackawanna River southwest of Scranton and turns sharply to the southwest, flowing through the former anthraciteindustrial heartland in the mountain ridges of northeastern Pennsylvania, past Pittston City (Greater Pittston), Wilkes-BarreNanticokeShickshinnyBerwickBloomsburg, and Danville."
