some notes;
I cleared an area of Broadleaf Dock Rumex obtusifolius for my landloard. Related to Yellow or Curly Dock Rumex crispus, it doesn't have quite the content level of berberines, and is a lighter shade of yellow. It is aptly medicinal with less intensity.
After rinsing I strew the roots upon four Khadi papers in the rain (medium: watercolor). Then I pulverized with a granite stone and placed some rotting, moldy, mossy, wet 6" x 6"s I borrowed from the woodpile to press (grid markers). We're due for some heavy rains... the "rest" will be up to nature's enfoldment. A final lathering with whole milk goat yogurt will finish the pieces...
I've been eating rabbit this past week... pareidolia expression?

Between the Summer Solstice & the Full Moon
16” x 25”

Earth pigments & flaked paint
Og Wheat paste
Watermelon juice & pulp
Cassein fixative
Khadi paper

some of our process...
bright in the summer Sun Khadi paper is laid out with eaten watermelon’ juice & pieces. I’ve mixed wheat flour for stability in adhering to the paper. The watermelon juice filled with sugars will act as a binder, preservative and as colorant.

a dish filled with Yellow Ochre pigment, wheat paste & water is ready for final application with Green Ochre & Blue Oxide color pigments already established on the paper…

Gathered Stinging Nettles Urtica dioica sp. on Solstice morning and here it is hanging briefly before I set in the darkness of a dry shed. In gathering I allowed it to sting me with its acidic virtues into a two day itch for my joints, bones and kidneys. The itch and swelling time can be an indication of ones' needs for the healing powers of this fine herb. I've had more intense reactions in previous years so I'm happily not scratching, grin...
The energetics of Summer Solstice and the perigee Full Moon in Capricorn instill me with Belief!, caring for others within the family circle and outward, and strengthening my own knees/needs...
