Kinderhook Creek
Brainard NY

this week while housesitting with Valatie i renewed drawing with Brainard NY along Kinderhook Creek with intention with Love, Peace and Cocreativity instilled with the brains with all peoples, critters, plants and elements with all...

I'm working with three outcroppings with each site as I did with Wallkill, Roundout and Hudson... and will study the map as there appears to be some triangulation's going on!... ie. back with the beginning of July I renewed drawing with Valatie Kinderhook Creek, that site and this one here with Brainard mark the one third points with Kinderhook where it rises with Western MA and where it conjoins Hudson...
the first visit with Brainard occurred with Winter Solstice Dec 21 2016 and below is the writing I made with that post...

Kinderhook Creek (bend with the river where the children play) Art Installation Project

with the Kinderhook Creek project I used energetic markings of cleansing and clearing wood charcoals along the Creek from local circle fires… with my intention being reciprocating Love, Peace and CoCreativity in aligning with the Earth/Cosmos energetic... consider the markings as symbolic gestures of pre-historic and ancient origins and present with futuristic signifiers placed temporarily and everlasting with the elements Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Ethers… the pulsing Sacred Waters and wind are life in continuum and are the circulatory system of the Earth and of all of the bodies upon and within Earth…

I applied these temporary charcoal markings at 23 installation sites at 12 locations in Massachussetts & New York… the markings disperse with the winds and rains/snows and are absorbed by Earth as revitalization…

Kinderhook Creek was known as Pasanthkack by the Mahican Native Americans who inhabited this land before the violent genocidal white European colonial invasions… Pasanthkack signifies meeting place… and the area around Kinderhook Creek was called Machackoesk by the Mahicans…

when the Dutch explorer Henry Hudson anchored in 1609 at the mouth of where the Kinderhook Creek joins with the Hudson River he was greeted by a group of Mahicans with many children accompanying them. Hudson called it Kinderhook, translating as the bend, or hook in the river where the children play...

there are many bends with the winding Kinderhook Creek... its' waterbody length is 263.3 miles from NY - MA state line to the Hudson River… it is a straight line drive of about 50 miles from Hancock to Stockport... the Kinderhook has a drainage area of over 330 square miles with many smaller water tributaries leading into it...a short distance of the Creek joining the Hudson River is today referred to as Stockport Creek…

Flag Pond TN

it is presumed that Flag Pond is named for the abundance of Blue Flag that grows in the area...
healing prevails...

“Blue flag was one of the most popular medicinal plants amongst various native North American Indian tribes. In modern herbalism it is mainly employed to detoxify the body - it increases urination and bile production and has a mild laxative effect. Some caution should be exercised in its use, however, since there are reports that it is poisonous. The fresh root is quite acrid and when taken internally causes nausea, vomiting, colic and purging. The dried root is much less acrid. This remedy should not be prescribed for pregnant women. The root is alterative, anti-inflammatory, cathartic, cholagogue, diaphoretic, diuretic, emetic and sialagogue. Taken internally as a tea, the root has been used as a strong laxative or emetic that also acts strongly on the liver and promotes the excretion of excess body fluids. It is also stimulant for the circulatory and lymphatic system. Its detoxifying effect make it useful in the treatment of psoriasis, acne, herpes, arthritis, swollen glands, pelvic inflammatory disease etc. Externally, it is applied to skin diseases, wounds and rheumatic joints. The roots are harvested in late summer and early autumn and are usually dried for later use. The roots were boiled in water and then mashed to make a poultice which was used to relieve the pain and swelling associated with sores and bruises.”
