Vernal Equinox Fire celebration candle...

1:11 min.

3/20/22

rolled Beeswax and Egg Tempera & natural pigment paintings on rag and plant sourced papers done between 1990 and 2012... 36" x 12" Tillson NY

Spring Equinox, March 20, 11:33 AM EDT candle light celebration... the candle lit 11:11 AM EDT and was cool by 3:00 PM...

involves what I leave behind unnecessarily, I’m an elder now!... these are our considerations and responsibilities to make… it is also a statement with enough with the toxicity in our world!…

a Spring Equinox celebration with the old die off, mix with the elements, and new growth emerges...

a potlatch like recognition with letting go….

a Fire ceremony cleansing transformation...

a processing continuance...

a we’ll see how this emerges...

notes: not apparent with slide presentation...

- Fire was drafted downward within candle and ignited the bottom of the candle, flames coming out from bottom igniting East side of candle and weakening its' structure and falling over... revolution occurring from the bottom up when we look at candle as metaphor of civilization... a Tower of Babel mythology... exposing the ribs of human kind...

- I poured Water, tempering the Fire to hissing smoke to ecapsulate forms of Beeswax, pigment & paper within the ashen forms... similar technique used with Raku, native ground kilns, metal foundry work and charred wood...

-  piece is processing toward new works...
